Allow up to 2 hours to travel from Melbourne as you can't rush the last sections up the mountain. Take the M1 Princes Highway to the Darnum exit which is approximately 7-8 km past Warragul. Take the exit and at the top of the ramp turn right over the highway and then left into Darnum, past the General Store, toilets and the Darnum Hotel. Follow the Mt Worth signs along Darnum-Allambee Rd, initially on bitumen through farmland before starting to climb and wind on gravel roads. After a while turn slightly left into McDonalds Track, then turn right into Allambee Estate Road. When houses appear on your left you are nearly there. Cross the bridge and immediately turn right, over the cattle grid, into the carpark at the Moonlight Creek picnic area. Toilets and a shelter on site.

Suggested alternative route for return journey: return to McDonalds Track keeping left towards the Mt Worth Lookout and Seaview, turn right when you reach the Grand Ridge Rd which becomes the Warragul-Leogatha Rd through Ellinbank. At the T intersection with the Korumburra-Warragul Rd turn right to get back to the M1 at Warragul.
